Robert “Bob” A. Nelson Sr.

Robert “Bob” A. Nelson Sr., age 75, of Coshocton, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born in Coshocton, Ohio on May 5, 1948, to the late Carl and Ada (Turner) Nelson.

After graduating from Coshocton High School, Bob joined the United States Air Force serving his Country proudly from 1967-1971. After the service, Bob worked for Novelty Advertisement and Pretty Products. He then went to the Policy Academy and joined the Coshocton Police Department and later worked for the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Department until his retirement on October 1, 2002.

Bob enjoyed painting, woodworking and spending time with his wonderful grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie J. (Deshong) Nelson of 40 years; his children, Tammy Johnston of Cambridge, Sheryl (Dave) Bechtol of Warsaw, Robert Nelson Jr., of Coshocton and Rhonda Nelson of Coshocton; step-daughter, Misty (Bill) Meyers of Coshocton; 16 grandchildren, Natashia, Christopher, Troy, Joey, Aaron, Josh, Amber (Patrick), Zac, Raetoshia, Hannah, Tyler, Carrie, Nick (Miranda), Stacy, Kayla and Tiffany; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Dave (Julie) Nelson of Coshocton; aunt, Carol (Don) Fischer of Washington Courthouse, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his step-son, Brian Jennings, his sister, Ruth McCormick; granddaughter, Kaylee and grandson, Waylon.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with Pastor Starkey Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Council Honor Guard.
