Robert Gene Boyd

Robert Gene Boyd, age 90, of Coshocton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He was born on August 24, 1932, in Uhrichsville, Ohio to the late Eugene and Evelyn (Doak) Boyd.

Bob graduated from Roscoe High School in 1950, and then joined the United States Army, serving his country proudly during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On October 20, 1952, he married his 7th grade sweetheart Dorothy (Ogle) Boyd.

Bob was a lifelong member of Roscoe United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a trustee and active member of the Phi Chi class. Bob and Dorothy became snowbirds in 1989 to Bonita Springs, FL where he was active in competitive Barbershop Chorus and Quartet singing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eagles, VFW and the Elks. Bob enjoyed Wednesday breakfast with the guys, caring for his lily garden. He was an avid Buckeyes, Indians and Browns fan and enjoyed attending sporting events to watch his grandsons. The love of shelling was passed down from his mom to him to his children and now to his grandchildren.  Bob put those shells to good use by making crafts, trees and tables to be enjoyed forever.

He is survived by two loving children, Ellen (Bill) Hamm of Westerville, Ohio, Don (Gina) Boyd of Howard, Ohio, and two grandsons, Brody (Abbie) Boyd and Logan Boyd.

Along with his parents and wife of 60 years, Dorothy who passed away on December 14, 2012, Bob is preceded in death by his sister, June (Boyd) Olinger.

Family and friends were greeted at 11:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Roscoe United Methodist Church, 475 High St., Coshocton with a Memorial Service started at 11:30 am with Pastor Bob Mitchell officiating. The Coshocton County Honor Guard performed military honors following the Memorial Service. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
