Rough truck adds autocross for a special two-night summer event

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Fairgrounds will have a weekend of loud, oil-burning, rim-wrecking fun. Not only are they hosting the annual rough truck, but this year, they’re adding an event for Friday night at the grandstands. Autocross will be making its debut at the fairgrounds on Friday, July 19 in the grandstands for a special two-night summer event.

“This [autocross] is a new event we are having at the fair this year, so we wanted to bring it in this summer as a preview and show what we’re having at the fair,” said Mary Knicely, secretary of the Coshocton County Fair Board.

Rough truck will be the following evening, Saturday, July 20 at the grandstands. General admission for both is $5. Pit admission is $10. Children two and under are admitted free of charge. The money raised goes toward sponsoring the event and paying bills at the fairgrounds.

“We’re a non-profit organization, so besides our fair, these events bring in some funds to help us do different events throughout the year,” said Knicely.

Both events begin at 7 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m. to the general public. On Friday, gates will open at 3 p.m. to participants.

In addition to the autocross and rough truck, food vendors will be available and there will also be a beer garden for those 21 and older. Weekend camping is also available. Contact the fairboard office at 740-622-2385 for more information on camping.

“The rough truck has always been big at the fair,” said Knicely. “They love these loud trucks. I have a feeling they will really like autocross.”
