RV, Redskin swimmers perform well at district meet

COLUMBUS – On Thursday, Feb. 14, the Central, East, and Southeast District Finals Swim Meet was held at The Ohio State University where more than 80 schools were represented with the top 30 times in each event.

Automatic state preliminary berths went to anyone finishing in the top two in each event, and medals were awarded on the podium for the top eight. The River View swim teams sent 16 swimmers, and the boys’ team brought home a total of nine medals while placing in the top ten overall in team points.

Medaling for the boys was the 400 Freestyle Relay of Coen Bible (55.92), Brady Philabaum (54.92), Cole Tatro (55.79), and Reas Pepper (52.48), placing sixth with a time of 3:45.29, and the 200 Free Relay of Coen Bible (24.57), Brayden Karr (25.05), JT Roberts (24.77), and Reas Pepper (23.88), seventh, with a time of 1:38.27. Individually, Pepper placed seventh overall in the 200 Free with a time of 1:58.24.

Additionally in boys events, the 200 Medley Relay of Brady Philabaum, Brayden Karr, Cole Tatro, and JT Roberts placed 11th (1:53.14), Tatro was 14th (2:16.38) in the 200 Individual Medley, and 17th (1:01.12) in the 100 Butterfly, Brady Philabaum was 26th (2:23.69) in the 200 IM, and 9th (1:01.26) in the 100 Backstroke, JT Roberts was 23rd (24.34) in the 50 Free, and 13th (1:03.83) in the 100 Back, Luke Massie was 14th (1:05.03) in the 100 Back, Reas Pepper was 22nd (24.32) in the 50 Free, Brice Cross was 30th (2:12.58) in the 200 Free, and Brayden Karr was 26th (1:14.64) and Gavin Donnell 27th (1:15.44) in the 100 Breaststroke.

In girls relays, the group of Carolyn Cox, Lindsey Ashcraft, Josie Fornara, and Kyara Roberts was 12th (2:02.91) in the 200 Medley, and 13th (1:51.82) in the 200 Free. In the 400 Free, Kyara Roberts, MaryAnn Lozowski, Michaela White, and Katie Hardesty were 21st (4:28.69).

In individual events for the girls, Lindsey Ashcraft was 21st (2:30.07) in the 200 IM, and 30th (1:16.96) in the 100 Breast. Carolyn Cox was 19th (1:07.54) in the 100 Back, and 29th (2:33.78) in the 200 IM, while Josie Fornara placed 19th (1:07.61) in the 100 Fly.

The Coshocton Redskins swim team sent its ladies 400 yard freestyle relay team to the district meet and finished with a time of 4.26.38 in 17th place with Bella Hall, Kendal Jackson, Autumn Jones and Payton Modlin competing for the Redskins.
