RVHS pitchers team up to shut out Ridgewood
WARSAW – River View defeated Ridgewood 16-0 on May 1 as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Alyssa Thomas induced a groundout to finish off the game.
River View got things moving in the first inning. Thomas drove in two when she singled. One bright spot for Ridgewood was a double by K Harris in the second inning.
Peyton Werntz took the win for River View. She surrendered zero runs on one hit over two and a third innings, striking out two and walking one. Thomas threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
M Matis took the loss for Ridgewood. She surrendered 16 runs on 13 hits over three innings.
River View racked up 14 hits in the game. Bella Heddleson, Kelsie Williamson, Lauren Krystek, and Werntz all had multiple hits for River View. Heddleson led River View with three hits in three at bats. The Lady Bears were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Gracie Dunlap made the most plays with nine.
Harris went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Ridgewood in hits.
