RVHS swimmers advance out of OHSAA Sectional Meet
STEUBENVILLE – River View girls and boys swimming competed in the Central/East/Southeast District, Division 2 Sectional Tournament Meet held at the SHS Natatorium on Feb. 10.
The top 30 times in each event from five sectionals qualified for the district meet at Ohio University in Athens on Friday, Feb. 16. Twelve River View swimmers will be attending the state prelims qualifying meet.
Advancing for the Black Bears individually were Lindsey Ashcraft, fourth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:14.61) and fifth in the 200 Individual Medley (2:26.78), Jesse Vandenbark, fifth in the 50 Freestyle (26.86), Josie Fornara, seventh in the 100 Butterfly (1:10.37), Carolyn Cox, seventh in the 100 Backstroke (1:10.18), Caleb Fischer, first in the 50 Free (23.74) and second in the 100 Breast (1:03.05), Dylan Harsh, eighth (6:03.48) in the 500 Free, Reas Pepper, fifth in the 200 IM (2:23.00), Kaden Poorman, eighth in the 100 Free (56.78), and Brady Philabaum, seventh in the 100 Back (1:08.25).
Also qualifying were all six relays. For the girls, Cox, Ashcraft, Fornara, and Vandenbark were fourth in both the Medley (2:02.46) and the 200 Free (1:52.36), and Emily Jacobs, Cox, Fornara, and Vandenbark were sixth (4:24.52) in the 400 Free. For the boys, Philabaum, Fischer, Andrew Martin, and Pepper were fourth (1:52.83) in the Medley, Pepper, Harsh, Martin, and Fischer were second (1:38.96) in the 200 Free, and Harsh, Poorman, Lane Wahl, and Pepper were fifth (3:49.35) in the 400 Free.
