Sandra Sue (Burris) Kreis
Sandra Sue (Burris) Kreis, age 79, of Howard and formerly of Coshocton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2021, with her husband John Edward Kreis by her side. She was born May 21, 1942, in Millersburg, Ohio to the late Albert and Judith (Hughes) Burris, the seventh of nine children.
The family moved to Coshocton when Sandy was young. She matriculated from Coshocton High School in 1960, and she and John were married in 1962. They liked to have fun but were both diligent workers. Sandy held positions at Seventh Street IGA (John’s parents’ grocery store), as well as at The Sweet Shop in Roscoe Village and at South Lawn School, among others.
John and Sandy had two children, Mia and Lance. Though she worked and loved her Tuesday bowling league, she was always available to support their education and activities. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, yard work, reading, painting, crafts, and ceramics.
Later in life, she and John relocated to Apple Valley. Lance moved back to Ohio and joined them there at a fortunate time. He supported them ably as they both valiantly fought health-related matters in recent years.
Sandy is survived by her husband, John, of 59 years; daughter, Mia (Matt) Scholz of Lake Forest, IL; two grandchildren, Henry and Beatrice Scholz; sister, Renee Vanaman and three brothers, Mike, Jerry, and Rick Burris.
Along with her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her son, Lance Kreis who passed away on October 4, 2021; three sisters, Jean Shaw, Joanne Burris, and Rita Hill and one brother, Gary Burris.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at Coshocton County Memory Gardens with Pastor Lloyd Tenney officiating. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
