Schools to remain close until May 1
The Stay at Home Order issued by the Ohio Department of Health remains in effect until 11:59 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2020 unless the Director of the Ohio Department of Health rescinds or modifies this Order at a sooner time and date. Residents are asked to cease non-essential travel and activities. Citizens may go to the grocery store to buy food and supplies, receive medical attention and participate in outdoor activities while maintaining social distance. It is asked that grocery store visits be limited to once a week. Please be considerate of other shoppers as others need food items and supplies that are being depleted from store shelves daily.
Check on your neighbors and family members. Help out our most venerable neighbors by getting their groceries, helping with yard work, helping with pets. We are all in this together.
Governor Mike DeWine announced an extension to the statewide school closure. Schools will now remain closed until May 1, 2020
For information about what businesses are permitted to remain open during the Stay at Home order, please refer to coronavirus.ohio.gov. Here you can see the complete order as well as an FAQ. Do not call local law enforcement, EMS or the local health departments for this information.
The collaborative effort of public health, public safety, EMA as well as city and county officials continue to meet in an effort to maintain a common operating picture and to be sure information is shared. We ask our citizens to only rely on credible sources for information about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Actions for Citizens
Please refer to official sources for accurate information about what is being accomplished in the fight against COVID-19. There are many untrue rumors and misinformation that can hinder our ability to provide important information that the citizens of Coshocton County needs.
Check on your neighbors. Help one another out as we all go through this difficult time. Be patient and kind to one another.
To prevent the spread of the disease the CDC encourages everyone to follow these effective practices:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer only if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching you eyes nose and mouth
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing
- Avoid contact with sick people
- Stay home when you are sick
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects – doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, etc.
