Shirley A. DeWitt

COSHOCTON – Shirley Ann DeWitt of Coshocton, Ohio went to be with her family and friends on the morning of January 12, 2018. She was born June 25, 1935 in Coshocton to the late Jesse M. and Lela J. (Fortune) Watson.

She was married to Orville G. DeWitt on June 24, 1966 who preceded her in death on May 22, 1992.

A 1953 graduate of Coshocton High School, she was employed for over 30 years in the County Auditor’s Office and also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital. She regularly attended Prairie Chapel Church on US 36 until her age kept her from going.

Survivors include sister, Dixie Foster of West Lafayette, nephew, John D. Meredith of West Lafayette, great- niece Jean LeeAnn Crossley of West Lafayette, great-nephew Joseph D. Crossley, and great-great nephew Otto Levi Crossley. She also was survived by her special pet doggie Boots. Boots has been taken care of and has been transferred from the Coshocton County Animal Shelter to a rescue, where she will receive the care an elderly pet needs.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Robert James Watson, a sister Gloria Jean Meredith, and a niece Kelly Jo Meredith.

As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours and her remains are to be cremated and will be buried with her husband at Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
