Shirley J. Dickerson, 83, of Coshocton passed away Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at Mount Carmel East in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Coshocton, Ohio on May 23, 1939 to the late Cecil and Eloise (Fry) Thomas.

She graduated from Roscoe High School in 1957. She was a homemaker and a loving wife and mother of 2 children and 6 grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and especially loved flowers. She also enjoyed walks in Roscoe Village for almost 4 decades with her sister-in-law. She never met a stranger. Every person she encountered was just a friend she hadn’t met yet.

Shirley is survived by her children Mitch Dickerson (Lisette) of Groveport, Ohio and Diane (Joe) Schlegel of New Albany, Ohio; grandchildren Brandon (Jennah) Dickerson of Virginia Beach, Virginia,  Ariel Dickerson (Andrew) of St. Louis, Missouri, Ryan (Brady) Schlegel of Washington, D.C., Emma (Tyler) Schlegel of East Lansing, Michigan, Hannah and Abigail Schlegel of New Albany, Ohio;  brother Steve (Bev) Thomas of Coshocton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Maxine Kohler and Ruth Dickerson of Coshocton, Ohio.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Leah Bickle and brother Lewis Thomas.

Calling hours were held at the Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 12 to 1pm. A funeral service was held at the funeral home at 1:00 pm. A graveside service followed at Union Cemetery, in Bedford township. An online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com.
