Short lived EF1 tornado caused extensive damage
The Coshocton County Emergency Management Agency in conjunction with the National Weather Service conducted extensive damage surveys in relation to the severe storm that passed through Coshocton County the night of May 7, 2024.
The damage surveys began near the Coshocton and Muskingum County line and extended to the area between Conesville and State Route 83 South. It has been determined that a short lived EF1 Tornado with maximum wind speeds of 105mph caused extensive damage to a home in western Coshocton County near the Muskingum County line. As the storm continued through Coshocton County moving east, there was damage to trees, structures and homes caused by straight line winds.
This is the sixth confirmed tornado in Coshocton County since 1950, and the first since May 31, 1985, when two tornados rated as an F3 and F1 on the older Fujita Scale occurred.
