Coshocton

 CHS volleyball teams fall to Sheridan

Tuesday evening, Aug. 24, at Sheridan High School in the season opener for both teams, the Coshocton Redskins Volleyball team fell to host Sheridan by the scores of: 16-25, 21-25, 23-25.

Leaders for Coshocton were: Lindsay Bryant with six kills, six digs, and one service ace; Hailey Helter with five kills and two aces; Ella Bible with four kills, two aces and three blocks; Jalynn West had eight digs and 21 assists; and Addy Gordon had five kills and three aces.

In the JV match, the Redskins fell to Sheridan in straight sets: 18-25 and 19-25.

Jillian Given had six assists and five digs, while Jaiden Arnold had five kills.

In the other sub-varsity match, Coshocton fell to Sheridan by the scores of: 10-25 and 11-25.

Sophia McFadden and Saige Abbott each had two kills for the Redskins.

 Ridgewood

 Matusik leads Ridgewood volleyball with assists

Ridgewood’s varsity volleyball team lost to Dover by scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19. The Lady Generals were led by: Karissa Gress – five kills, three blocks, two digs, three points and one ace; Ella Matusik – 19 assists, six kills, four digs and two blocks; Hannah Maust – six kills, seven digs, and three points; Kaelynn Robinson – four kills and seven digs; Kadin Belt – six digs and four points; and Kaiedence Smith – seven points.

Ridgewood also fell to Tri Valley by scores 25-11, 25-14, and 24-4. Leading the way for the Lady Generals in this game were: Ella Matusik – 10 assists and three points; Hannah Maust – six kills, five digs, and two blocks; Kaeylynn Robinson – three kills, two digs, and one ace; Kaeidence Smith – six digs and four points; Karissa Gress – two kills; and Kadin Belt – five digs.

Ridgewood then defeated Strasburg by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-23.

The Generals were led by Hannah Maust – 20 kills, three blocks, nine digs, and four points; Ella Matusik – 35 assists, seven kills, seven digs, four points and one ace; Karissa Gress – 11 kills, two blocks, five digs, 11 points and two aces; Kaelynn Robinson – 21 digs, six kills, and nine points; and Kaidence Smith – 10 digs, four points and three aces.

River View

Lady Bears open volleyball season with wins

River View volleyball opened its season at home versus New Lexington on Aug. 24.

The freshmen Lady Bears won their match in two sets, 25-11, 25-14. JV won in two sets, 25-16, 25-8.

Varsity had an impressive win in four hard-fought sets, 25-19, 23-25, 30-28, & 25-19. Leading the way for the Lady Bears were Kayla Dulgar with 37 assists, 16 digs and four aces. Ashley Newell had 13 kills and seven blocks. Cayla Shrimplin contributed 16 digs and three aces. Ashlyn Bible had nine kills and Britton McCoy added four aces.

RVHS boys share golf scores

On Aug. 25 River View’s boys golf team played Sheridan and Crooksville.

River View only had two competing. Thad Cox recorded a 42 and Josh Woolard had a 53.

Lady Bear golfers battle Sheridan

River View’s girls golf team took on Sheridan on Aug. 23. Sheridan won 163 to 198.

Individual scores for RVHS were: Paige Nicely – 39; Caily Shriver – 42; Chloey Geog – 58; and Hollee Sheneman – 59.

On Aug. 25 the Lady Bears played Fort Frye at Hickory Flats Golf Course. River View won 199 to 220.

Individual scores were: Paige Nicely, 40 (match medalist); Caily Shriver, 41 (personal record); Chloey Geog, 46 (personal record); and Hollee Sheneman, 63.

Young RV golfers beat Edison

River View’s junior high golf team beat Edison 166 to 222.

Individual scores were: Gavin Gress – 36; Colton Gress – 38; Brynn Harstine – 43; Taylor Harstine – 49; Caleb Kline – 50; and Makayla Gress – 53.

They also played Tri-Valley and beat them 162 to 199.

River View was led by: Gavin Gress – 34; Colton Gress – 38; Caleb Kline – 43; Brynn Harstine – 47; Taylor Harstine – 51; and Clark Frischen – 59.
