Coshocton

CHS volleyball picks up MVL wins

Thursday evening, Oct. 7, in the Wigwam, the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team moved into sole-possession of second place in the MVL small division with a convincing triumph over visiting New Lexington. Scores of the match were: 25-23, 25-13, and 25-13.

It was a total team effort for the ‘Skins as many players made significant contributions.

Lindsay Bryant led the offensive attack as she pounded 14 kills, but also contributed 12 digs and two blocks.

Jalynn West had 30 assists, two blocks and three service aces.

Miyah Davis dug up 18 Panther attacks to go along with her two service aces.

Hailey Helter had nine kills and two blocks and Addy Gordon served up three aces and collected 10 digs.

The JV ‘Skins also prevailed in straight-sets by the scores of: 25-12 and 25-14.

Jillian Given had 11 assists to pace the Redskins while Lacey Guthrie led the offense with five kills.

In the sub-varsity match, Coshocton fell to New Lexington by the scores of: 21-25, 25-18, and 17-25.

Leah Mathias had eight kills and Jillian Urban had three aces.

Saturday afternoon, Oct. 9, in the Wigwam, the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team fell to non-league foe Hiland by the scores of: 24-26, 20-25, and 16-25.

Offensive leaders for Coshocton were Ella Bible with nine kills, Kenidi Jackson with eight, Lindsay Bryant with five and Hailey Helter with four. Jalynn West had 28 assists and three service aces.

Bible led the way on defense with 12 digs, while Miyah Davis and Addy Gordon each collected 10.

The JV ‘Skins captured a hard-fought three-set victory by the scores of: 27-29, 25-23, and

25-21.

Jillian Given had 18 assists and 19 digs to lead the Redskins.

Leah Mathias contributed seven kills and Saige Abbott collected 10 digs and six kills.

Monday night, Oct. 11, in an absolute slugfest, the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team put together their best outing of the season as they went toe-to-toe with host New Lexington for nearly two hours. When the dust settled, the ‘Skins claimed a hard-fought victory by the scores of: 26-24, 25-23, 21-25, and 25-19.

Junior setter, Jalynn West, had an excellent all-around game as she led the Redskins’ offense with 37 assists and also led at the service line with 4 aces. In addition, she collected six kills, including three down the stretch to help put away the hard-charging Panthers.

Lindsey Bryant had a career-high 21 kills to lead the attack, while Ella Bible and Hailey Helter had five each.

Miyah Davis and Addy Gordon led the defense with 16 digs, while Bryant and Bible added 13 apiece.

Davis and Bible each served up three aces.

The JV ‘Skins fell in a 3-set battle, by the scores of: 23-25, 25-15, 20-25.

Jillian Given had 24 assists and five ace serves to lead the Redskins. Leah Mathias contributed 7 kills while Saige Abbott pounded six kills and had four aces.

In the sub-varsity match, Coshocton claimed a 24-26, 23-25 victory.

Jillian Urban had 11 assists. Maggie Laaper had three kills and four service aces.

Ridgewood

RHS volleyball downs TCC

Ridgewood defeated Tuscarawas Central Catholic by scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, and 25-22.

The Lady Generals were led by: Ella Matusik- 54 assists, four digs, three kills, one block, three points, and one ace; Kaelynn Robinson – 20 kills, 15 digs, 10 points, and four aces;  Hannah Maust – 19 kills, 20 digs, three blocks, six points, and three ace; Kadiin Belt – 11 digs, five points, and one ace; Kaiedence Smith – 10 digs, 11- points, and three aces; Graci Armstrong – 10 digs, seven points, and one ace; Kelley Masloski – five kills, two assists, one block; Kerstin Webster – four assists, two digs, one kill, one block; Kya Masloski – two kills, one block.
