Every spring, volunteers come together to clean up the county. Not only is trash picked up, but limbs are gathered, leaves are raked, and flower beds cleared for a new season. The community is encouraged to do this all year, but if you would like to be part of a bigger group, the following dates are scheduled.

The Big Coshocton Clean-Up will be held Saturday, April 15. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the court square gazebo. The first 50 participants will get a t-shirt.  Donuts, bottled water and trash bags are provided. Those who register will receive an assigned area to clean up.

There will be a container, sponsored by Kimble’s, located near the Alder Street entrance of the fairgrounds that will accept old furniture and the Boy Scouts will accept old appliances.

Emma Mitchell, director of United Way, said, “The United Way takes part every year because it is a day of uniting people together to make an impact which is directly in line with the United Way of Coshocton County’s mission statement.”

“I think it is so important for people to pull together for the good of Coshocton because it gives them a sense of ownership and pride over where they live, work and go to school. No money is asked from this event – we just ask people to come and participate by rolling up their sleeves and helping to pick up trash. It will be exciting seeing and knowing that every piece of trash we get off the streets is a step toward bettering the environment and Coshocton and overall, just making it an even more beautiful, clean, and safe place to live.”

Clary Gardens has two days planned to clean up the gardens. On Thursday, April 13, they will be taking care of the rose garden from 2-5 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 17, “Pulling (weeds) Together will be held from 2-5 p.m.

Lake Park will be holding its annual clean-up day on Saturday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. They are asking volunteers to bring pruners, rakes, saws, weeding tools and any other gardening tool the volunteer is comfortable using. Volunteers are to meet at the park office at 9 a.m. and at noon everyone is to meet at shelter six for a light lunch. If the day is cold, lunch will be served in the pavilion.
