Standoff occurs at Commons Drive

| September 23, 2019

COSHOCTON – On Sept. 22, at approximately 11:58 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a call from a distraught male on Commons Drive stating that he was having family issues and that he had barricaded himself in his apartment with a loaded shotgun. After deputies arrived and made contact with the subject, he made threats of suicide and also suicide by cop. Deputies talked to the subject and attempted to get him to come out, but he refused.  Due to the nature of the threats, the Special Response Team was brought in to bring a safe end to the standoff. After a three-hour standoff, contact was made once again with the subject and he was convinced to drop his weapon outside and was taken into custody without further incident.
