Steven Ray McCune

Steven Ray McCune, age 70, of Plainfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at his home. He was born on December 30, 1952, in Coshocton to the late Robert and Gertrude (Dunfee) McCune.

He graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1970 and married Ronda (Moyer) McCune on June 29, 1974. Steve worked for Jones Metal for many years, was a truck driver and a farmer. He was a member of Plainfield United Methodist Church and the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #224.

Steve dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. He loved his dogs, Rambo and Hillary and his grand puppies, Star and Willow. Steve liked feeding and watching his birds, John Deere Tractors, cleaning his cars and he tolerated his wife’s yelling for the Cleveland Browns on Sundays!

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ronda McCune; daughter, Shannon (Ryan) Vernon of Adamsville, son Shawn (Brittany) McCune of Plainfield; grandchildren, Xander, Luke, Logan, Cole, Makayla, Bronson, Coy, Huxson, and Garrett; brothers, Kevin (Cynthia) McCune of Columbus and Tom (Debra) Brill of Plainfield; close cousin, Ann (Gary) Simmons of West Lafayette along with several other cousins and nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his in-laws, Ronnie and Juanita Moyer.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:45 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Plainfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Steve’s name to the Plainfield Masonic Lodge, 18979 St. Rt. 93, West Lafayette, Ohio 43845 or to Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Cardiology Unit, 700 Children’s Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43205.
