Suspect apprehended after assault with weapon

COSHOCTON – On Oct. 29, at approximately 9:02 p.m. the sheriff’s office received a 911 call in reference to a home invasion in the 400 block of North Eighth Street in the City of Coshocton.

As deputies were arriving on scene, a male suspect was seen fleeing the residence and was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.  After the initial investigation, it was determined that the male suspect had kicked in the door to the residence and assaulted the male and female residents with a deadly weapon, intending to rob them. The male and female victims, who were assaulted during the incident, were able to wrestle the weapon away from the suspect.

The male victim was transported to Coshocton Regional Medical Center by Coshocton County EMS and was later transferred to Grant Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The female victim was treated at the scene and released.

On Oct. 30, Joseph D. Brewer, a 29-year-old man from the Coshocton area, was formally charged with aggravated burglary, a felony of the first degree.

This investigation is on-going by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.
