Terrence ‘Terry’ Randall Shaw
COSHOCTON – Terrence “Terry” Randall Shaw, age 91, of Coshocton, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
Terry was born in Coshocton on June 26, 1926 to the late Ernest and Violet (Snedeker) Shaw. After graduating high school, Terry joined the U.S. Army where he served in the 7th Armored Division in World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Terry worked for many years as a machinist for AK Steel Coshocton Work. He also worked at Davis Drycleaners and he portrayed Dr. Johnson at Roscoe Village for many years. In 1985, Terry married Jean (Terry) Shaw, who preceded him in death in 2009. Terry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, VFW Post 1330, American Legion Post 65, and he was a life member of the Elks Lodge No. 376. He also performed in many plays with the Coshocton Footlight Players and was also a member of Friends Inc. and a past member of Coshocton Community Choir. Terry was well known for his love of singing with his friend Dan Barnes and “the gang.” He was gifted in graphic arts and loved showing his talent by drawing cartoons for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his son, Steve (Debra) Shaw, stepchildren, Jaron (Brian) Terry Smith, Jewell Terry, and Jill Bussey, son-in-law, Mark McConnell, seven grandchildren, Amy (Adam McGaha) Shaw, Carlye Shaw, Kitty (Ben) French, Cory (Kristen) McConnell, Lorin (Nick Curry) McConnell, Kevin Terry Smith, and Jennifer (Jason) Glosser, seven great-grandchildren, special first cousin, Wally (Wanda) Snedeker, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, Terry is preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine McConnell, brothers, Rollin and Kenneth Shaw, and nephew, Malcolm Shaw.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Keith Peachey officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with military honors being performed by the Coshocton County Veterans Council.
