Thomas S. “Tom” Tomes

Thomas S. “Tom” Tomes, 79, of Coshocton passed away at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Tom was born on October 25, 1942, in Knox County, Ohio to the late Shelby and Florence (Fry) Tomes.

Tom honorably served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1964-1966 and retired from AT&T after a thirty-year career.

He was a lifetime member of The Pioneers Union, Coshocton Sportsman Club, V.F.W. and Coshocton Genealogical Society.  Tom loved spending time with his family, outdoors, fishing and working on his Classic Corvette.

He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-six years Becky Tomes; children Matthew Tomes, Danielle (Dave Smith) Tomes and Michelle (Jesse) Cox; grandchildren Blaine, Brett, Brianna Cox, Kelsey Kent and Emma Tomes; brother Larry (Linda) Tomes and sister Bethel (Ronnie) Totman; several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Jean DeVore.

Friends called at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM where funeral services will began at 6:00 PM with Pastor Bill Jones officiating and Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.

A cremation took place after the funeral services and burial of his cremated remains will be held a later date in Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw.
