Veterans can obtain food vouchers for upcoming holiday season

COSHOCTON – Veterans wishing to obtain food vouchers for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are encouraged to apply at the Coshocton County Veterans Service Office.

Beginning Monday, Nov. 13, vouchers will be available to veterans whose annual income does not exceed 200 percent of the 2017 Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Veterans who wish to receive a voucher must provide proof of household income and the program is open to veterans and/or their widows residing in Coshocton County only.

The financial guidelines are as follows:

2                 $32,484.00

3                   $40,836.00

4                 $49,200.00

5                  $57,564.00

6                   $65,916.00

7                  $74,280.00

8                  $82,644.00

*Each additional person add $8,364.00

Additionally, veterans must have lived in the county for a minimum of 90 days, have served on active duty for other than training and have been honorably discharged.

Each $75 voucher may be redeemed at Baker’s IGA, Buehler’s Food Market, Aldi’s or Collins Meat Market and are to be used for food only.

A list of items that may not be purchased will be provided to successful applicants and store receipts will be reviewed. Anyone purchasing unauthorized items could be barred from participating in any future voucher programs and/or financial assistance.

This is the fifth year that the Veterans Service Office is providing these vouchers.

No vouchers will be issued after 3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18.
