Veterans Day ceremony planned
Coshocton County Veterans Council in conjunction with Coshocton County Veterans Service Commission and Office Staff will conduct the annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in front of the court house.
Sharon Burns with the local Blue Star Mothers will be the guest speaker and 1stSgt Stephen W. Justice, USMC, Retired will be the main speaker. The Walhonding Rube Band will provide patriotic music and Sam Scott will sing the Armed Forces Medley. TAPS will be played by Tim Vance and George Clark with Pastor Bob Adelsperger from the Perry Chapel Baptist Church will give the invocation and benediction.

Other activities planned include:
Isleta UMC Patriotic Program: 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6. The Isleta Choir will sing the musical, “The Spirit of America,” and there also will be patriotic readings. The Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard will post the colors, and all veterans will be honored. Attendees are asked but not required to bring a donation for the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland and the New Philadelphia VA Clinic. Needed items are monetary donations, combs, brushes, disposable razors, gum, hard candy, soap, coloring books, colored pencils, postage stamps, security envelopes, telephone cards, writing tablets and word search/crossword puzzle/Sudoku books. Isleta UMC is located at 58608 County Road 9 in Newcomerstown and is handicap accessible.
Military Appreciation Day: 9-11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, Salvation Army gym, 334 Chestnut St. This event is for all Coshocton County Veterans and their spouses. A free breakfast will be served including SOS, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee. Diana Caton will share at 10 a.m. about her time in the Army Women’s Corps during the Vietnam War. There also will be a military display with lots of military history information, socializing area and information tables by the Veterans Service Office and the Blue Star Mothers.
