VFW hosts state contest

COSHOCTON – The VFW Post 1330 hosted the state level of the Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy contests on Jan. 14.

Those who placed in the contests received cash prizes and both first place winners will move on to the national event. All winners were from out of town.

On Jan. 14 the state winners of the VFW’s law enforcement, firefighter and EMT contest also were selected. A police officer from Westerville, a firefighter from North Olmsted and an EMT from Hilliard each won two banquet tickets, a $300 donation to the charity of choice in their name, two nights lodging and plaques designating them department of Ohio winners and national citations will be sent to the department of Ohio headquarters.

Linus Kilchenman helped coordinate this event on the local level for the VFW and received a certificate of appreciation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
