Violet Jean “Jeanie” Hammond

Violet Jean “Jeanie” Hammond, age 88, of Coshocton, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

She was born on January 2, 1936, in Coshocton County to the late Clarence and Anna (Amore) Sunafrank. On August 28, 1955, she married John Hammond who survives.

Jeanie worked for several years as a seamstress for Annin Flag Company and was a former member of Park United Methodist Church. She was on a bowling league five days a week; she and her husband were also on a mixed doubles league and she subbed for many bowler over the years. Jeanie loved to read, spend time with her family and worked with the REACT trailer at the Coshocton County Fair for many years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John Hammond; her daughter, Lu Ann (Jeff) Logan of Coshocton, two grandchildren, Christopher (Mary) Wilson and Jeanie Wilson; six great- grandchildren, Cammy, Caden, Christian, Johnny, Cabela and Nicole; and sister, Linda (Dick) Graham of Coshocton.

Along with her parents, Jeanie is preceded in death by her son, John Hammond and her sister, Catherine  Angle.

A graveside service was held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Fairfield Cemetery. Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home is serving the family.
