Walhonding woman killed in SR 16 crash

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on SR 16 that has claimed the life of a Walhonding woman.

According to patrol Sgt. Jeff Jirles, troopers were called to SR 16 in Cass Township Friday evening, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. Reports indicate 33-year-old Joshua Samson of Zanesville was eastbound on SR 16 in a 2007 Ford pick-up truck and drove left of center. Samson struck another Ford pick-up truck pulling a livestock trailer driven by 23-year-old Trenton Vickers of Walhonding.

Both Samson and Vickers sustained minor injuries however, a passenger in Vicker’s vehicle, 55 year old Kathrine Vickers, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Genesis Hospital.  She was then transferred to Grant Medical Center where she passed away Saturday night, June 22. The crash remains under investigation.
