| July 19, 2013

waterCOSHOCTON – The baby pool full of water balloons was a big hit with 8-year-old Carter Donley and several other children who attended the Freedom Festival held July 19 at Hopewell Industries Inc.

”We do this to celebrate the independence, freedom and abilities of people with disabilities,” said Bambi Zinkon, an advocate with the County Board of Developmental Disabilities. “This is also an opportunity for us to involve the community and show them that our clients want to be valued just like them.”

The event, organized by Raise Your Voice, a group of people with disabilities who are self-advocates included games, food, guest speakers and more.

About the Author ()

I started my journalism career in 2002 with a daily newspaper chain. After various stops with them, I am happy to be back home! I graduated from Coshocton High School in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2002 from Walsh University. I also earned several awards while working for daily papers, including being honored by Coshocton County’s veterans for the stories I wrote about them. I am honored and ready to once again shine a positive light on Coshocton County. I also am the proud mother of a little girl named Sophia!
