William Carl “Willie” McNemar Jr., 65, died Friday, May 31, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital in Newark.

He was born Dec. 2, 1958 in Zanesville to William Carl “Bill” McNemar Sr. and Wanda (Scott) McNemar. He was a 1977 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, and worked in oil fields for many years, starting at the age of 16. He married Nancy (Rich) McNemar on Oct. 16, 1977, enjoying 46 ½ years of marriage. He worked at MFM Manufacturing in Coshocton for 30+ years until forced into early retirement due to disability for his health. He had a long, extended battle with lymphoma and heart-related illnesses over the years.

Willie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend who will be missed by many for his friendly nature, kind spirit, and sense of humor. He lived for his family every day, as a loyal and supportive husband and father. His extended family and friends could always rely on a helping hand or friendly smile.

Willie enjoyed many activities over the years, including racing pure stock, endurance, and modified race cars. He loved watching NASCAR and football, and raising and showing miniature horses with Nancy. He was a past member of the Buckeye Miniature Horse Club, the All-Ohio Horse Show Organization, and the Hub of Ohio Driving Club. He made many friends in the horse show world. He also enjoyed taking the horses in parades and to nursing home visits.

In addition to his wife, Nancy McNemar and his mother, Wanda McNemar, he is survived by his son, Gregory (Katie) McNemar of the home; grandchildren, Ava McNemar, Robbie Chandler, and Dreyvan Hayes, all of Coshocton; sisters, Connie (Fred) Lowe of Frazeysburg, Rose McNemar of Frazeysburg, and Bonnie (Pat) Michel of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews; a special great-nephew, Carter Griffith who Willie would trade phone calls with and loved chatting with him; a trucking friend “Murdock” who faithfully called Willie to check on him throughout his illnesses; a special neighbor & friend, Josh Meiser, who was always available any time day or night to help; and his beloved cat, Lacy Lu”.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bill McNemar Sr., a brother, Ray Samuel “Sam” McNemar; two nieces, Amy & Ticka McNemar; and a nephew, Kenny Peck.
