HeffkenWARSAW- William Edward “Bill” Heffken, 86, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at Cedar Hill Care Center in Zanesville.

USFlagSunlightHC1311_X_300_C_YHe was born Nov. 17, 1927 in Athens Co. to the late Frederick C. and Bertha (Dalton) Heffken.  He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII from 1945-1946.  He was a certified electrical engineer, and was the electrical maintenance foreman at Cyclops-AK Steel for 31 years.  He was a Ham radio enthusiast and built his own radios.  He trained bird dogs and enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Lasko) Heffken of Warsaw, whom he married on April 3, 1954, a daughter, Cynthia (James) Walters of Zanesville, a son, Don (Barbara) Heffken of Tony, AL, three grandchildren; Rebecca (Navin) Ajodhya of Centerburg, Melissa (Bill) Lewis of Pickerington, and David Edward Heffken of Huntsville, AL, a great-granddaughter, Mia Parker Lewis, and a sister, June Heffken of Glouster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Edward Heffken, and a sister, Jeanne Lemoine.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Ron Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Coshocton Co.
