Works Offers Teen Glass Design and Entrepreneurship Program
NEWARK — The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology is excited to introducing FireWorks!, a unique opportunity for high school students to learn the art of glass design, production, and entrepreneurship. Professional staff and volunteers at The Works will guide teens through the basics of producing, exhibiting, marketing, and selling their glass art products. FireWorks! features small class size (limit of 10 students), individualized class and lab instruction from professional artists and business leaders, standards-aligned academics, and mentors who will support and encourage students throughout the session. Students will meet weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning Feb. 17 through April 30, 2016. The program culminates with a student-produced public exhibit and art sale in May 2016. Cost for the entire 10-week program is $250 per student; interested students are encouraged to apply for scholarships.
Application deadline is Jan. 5, 2016. The application and program schedule can be found at www.attheworks.org/classes-camps-programs/glass-blowing. Contact Janice LoRaso or Lawrence Tuber with questions at 740-349-9277, or email to janiceloraso@attheworks.org or LawrenceTuber@attheworks.org. FireWorks!
