Youth Ministry attends National Catholic Youth Conference

indexCOSHOCTON – In November, The Youth Ministry from Sacred Heart Church attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis Indiana, with over 15,000 other Catholic youths and 5,000 adults. They were also blessed with 36 Bishops participating for all or part of NCYC. The theme was Signed, Sealed and Delivered, signed by the waters of baptism, sealed by the Holy Spirit, and delivered from death into life. The mornings started at 7:15 a.m. as they loaded the bus and headed to Lucas Oil Stadium for a two hour rally, then they would head over to the convention center where they attended several classes, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and then at 6:30 p.m., they headed back to the stadium for the closing rally, which lasted until 10:30 p.m. Saturday evening, the last night, all 20,000 plus, participated in a two-hour Mass, celebrated with the help from several Bishops and well over a hundred Priests and seminarians. While there, The Catholic Relief Services put on an effort called “The Helping Hands Effort”. They make up boxed meals to be shipped overseas, some of the youth helped with this effort, and by the end of the four days, a total of 100,000 boxed meals were ready to be shipped overseas to the hungry.
